ioSono

ioSono

On November 23, 2023, at 4.30 pm, the exhibition, IoSono, by Pietro Loffredo and Nando Calabrese will be inaugurated at the National Library of Naples (Bibliography Room). Speakers: Ilaria Perrelli, president of the Regional Council for the Condition of Women, Maria Iannotti, director of the library, Linda Irace, curator of the exhibition, Mario Rovinello, La Valle del Tempo publishing house. Musical accompaniment by the students of the Palizzi High School coordinated by Chiara Mallozzi and Messina Sabrina. The exhibition-appeal is the "cry of pain" that the two artists launch in the face of the violence of which women are victims every day: women of every culture , ethnicity, social background, united by often similar stories. Ordinary women, like the faces that flow on display, known or unknown. [photo1. the actress Antonella Stefanucci, godmother of the initiative].  The 12 works arise from the photographic shots of Nando Calabrese, which cross the pictorial sign of Pietro Loffredo, in a sort of superstitious magic that entrusts the defense of those female faces to art: at the center of the two authors' project, which refine and strengthen their collaboration, that I Am, I exist, is affirmed, which in all its strength manifests itself as individual, unrepeatable. On the occasion of the inauguration, Pietro Loffredo  and Nando Calabrese will perform live performances, drawings and photographic shots which will involve the public present, in a game of references to the propitiatory signs of the works and provocations to search [in the absence of the institutions] amulets and magic - the tools to protect oneself from violence. The exhibition promoted by the "TempoLibero" association is part of the initiatives of the Neapolitan Library to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and will be open to visitors every day, from Monday to Thursday 12pm and 4pm, Friday only 12pm until 8 January 2024.  After Naples the works will be exhibited in various Italian cities. The two authors, who have collaborated with each other several times, have numerous personal and collective exhibitions to their credit

Nando Calabrese

Much of his photographic experience was gained in the art world. For years, he has "narrated" with his images the contemporary art exhibitions that take place in Naples and its surroundings, he is the author of numerous art catalogs and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Naples, Paris, Rome, Miami.

Pietro Loffredo

Neapolitan, he has exhibited in Rome, Venice, Naples, Bastia, Montecarlo, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona. His works have been exhibited at the museums of Castel Sant'Angelo in Rome, the Dar Bach Amba in Tunis, the Orestiadi Foundation in Gibellina and the St. James Cavalier - Center For Creativity in Valletta. Constant artistic research leads him to experiment with different techniques and to identify a peculiar stylistic feature in the choice of privileged subjects (black angels, horns)

The State Archives of Salerno

hosts the second stage of the exhibition ioSono
by the painter Pietro Loffredo and the
photographer Nando Calabrese

The State Archives of Salerno, as part of its
dissemination activity, starting from
February 2024, will host a series of events
and exhibitions aimed at focusing on the
condition of women or paying homage
to prominent female figures.
The initiative "Immagine Donna", which will unfold in some emblematic events, will start on February 17, 2024, at 11.30 am, in the headquarters of Largo Abate Conforti, 7, with the inauguration of the IoSono Exhibition, by the painter Pietro Loffredo and the photographer Nando Calabrese, in collaboration with the TempoLibero Association. The director of the Archive, Fortunata Manzi, both artists, the journalist Erminia Pellecchia, the actress Antonella Stefanucci (godmother of the exhibition), the opera singer Sabrina Messina (among the women photographed) – the curator, Clorinda, will participate in the inaugural event. Irace, Mario Rovinello, head of the La Valle del Tempo publishing house and the journalist Annamaria Barbato Ricci, former head of the press office of the National Equal Opportunities Commission at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The exhibition-appeal is part of the overall project of the Archive to create a focus on the female condition and represents the "cry of pain" of two artists of great sensitivity, in the face of the violence of which women of every culture are victims every day, ethnicity, social extraction, united by stories that are often similar despite being in different places and contexts. Ordinary women, like the faces that flow on display, known or unknown, in a painful and truthful representation by two "special" men. The 12 works intersect the photographic shots of Nando Calabrese and the pictorial sign of Pietro Loffredo, in a sort of superstitious magic that entrusts the defense of those female faces to art: at the center of the Project of the two Authors, who thus refine and strengthen the their collaboration, that I Am, I exist, is affirmed, which in all its strength manifests itself as individual, unrepeatable. The traveling project started last November 25, 2023, at the National Library of Naples, attracting interest and success. On the occasion of the inauguration Pietro Loffredo and Nando Calabrese will meet the public: it will be an opportunity to talk about women and problems inherent to female emancipation in all fields and the social and cultural resistance that it encounters
